What started as a dream…
Bowhunting League is the largest archery-only free hunting competition in the world, and there’s no plans on slowing down!
Founded in 2015 by Ben Harrison, the league was created as a way for friends to get together for some friendly competition around their passion: bowhunting. A facebook group was started, and friends began to join. 65 people competed in the opening season, lots was learned, and the realization that this contest could be something pretty special began to sink in. Through hard work, some serious networking and the development of a volunteer-based staff network, the league began to explode in growth. Fast-forward to today, the league now hosts competitions for archery deer, archery elk, archery turkey and a shooting competition called the One Shot each summer. The facebook group hosts 46,000 active members, and the deer contest that started with 65 people now showcases over 3,000 hunters annually competing for over $50,000 in prizes. The roots of the competition haven’t changed. The contest is still free, and every animal taken is celebrated by the league. Bowhunting League prides itself in it’s members. With a shared passion for bowhunting and a desire to keep the sport alive, every member of the league treats each other with respect, and every opportunity for success is applauded and celebrated. We are a community-based organization with a sincere passion for bowhunting.
